A prayer of non-violence from Janism
Know other creatures' love for life,
For they are like you.
Kill them not; save their life from fear and enmity.
All creatures desire to live, not to die.
Hence to kill is to sin.
A godly man does not kill.
Therefore, kill not yourself, consciously or
Unconsciously, living organisms which move
Or move not,
nor cause slaughter of them.
He who looketh on the creatures of the earth,
Big and small, as his own self,
comprehendeth this immense world.
Among the careless, he who restraineth self
Tamara & Friend
With devotion, trust and faith slowly close your eyes, gently let all the thoughts in your mind, go away; let all the parts of your physical body slow down; relax your hands and your feet from their daily routines and allow yourself to enjoy this relaxation!
Feel now a beautiful and loving energy coming down over you and taking you higher and higher. Feel this energy enter inside you! Feel this energy making you lighter and lighter, light as a feather! You feel peaceful! You feel curious to see what this journey will bring you, where this journey is going to take you to! You rise higher and higher till you find yourself in front of a big rose. You enter with your body inside this big flower and you rest over its petals. See its majestic colour of pink with a dash of red, smell its delicate fragrance! When this perfume enters inside your body, it brings you all the beautiful memories of your childhood or of your younger days! The happiness, the dreams, the freedom of your youth is coming back to you now. Enjoy this moment which helps you to unblock the feelings you have hidden deep inside you for so long!
Slowly now see yourself moving, flying inside the flower; see yourself surrounded by pollen, surrounded by a yellow velvety substance! Feel the feeling of this flower, feel how proud it is, proud to give such love to everyone around it, proud for the honour to be chosen as a gift of joy and eternity! These feelings are now growing in you too, bringing you respect for yourself and a great love to share with everyone around you, to honour your life with all its difficult and happy moments! Keep these feelings in your heart because you too are like this rose, because you too radiate love and joy to yourself and to all those that are around you!
A white energy now surrounds you and takes you higher and higher. A very pretty animal now stands in front of you; it could be a pet of yours or an animal you admire so much! See that animal jumping on you, jumping of happiness, of the opportunity to be with you again. Feel the love it had and still has for you! Feel the great love and protection it always gave you! It was always near you, giving you the energy you needed every moment of your life. Look in its eyes and see the admiration it had for you and its gratitude for the years you have looked after it.
Feel the love and care, that animal had and has for you! Feel the love and care filling your heart now! Your thoughts now go to your dear ones, family and friends who need help, support and healing, and whose names appear in our healing book; you want to help them experience the healing energies you have just experienced. You present them to the Guides and you ask that they extend to them too these healing energies. Bring these friends in your mind now and send them your love and healing…..
Thank you Divine Spirit for the Healing and for the Love you have shared with us and all our loved ones. Help us see clearer and choose more wisely our daily experiences and guide us always to Harmony and Peace.
The white energy is now coming nearer and nearer to you. You know it is time for your return trip. You give a big hug to that beautiful animal and you thank it for all the love it has for you, you also say good bye and a big ‘thank you’ to that beautiful Rose for its Love and for releasing all the hidden anxieties you had in your heart. That white energy now brings you down and down and soon you find yourself standing again in the middle of this hall. Slowly make your way back to your sit, to the bench you were sitting on.
Feel your feet touching the ground, feel your hands resting on our laps, move your fingers and your toes, start breathing normally once again and when you are ready open your eyes and welcome back.
The Teacher's Hand
Thanksgiving Day was near. The first-grade teacher gave her class a fun assignment — to draw a picture of something for which they were thankful.
Most of the class might be considered economically disadvantaged, but still many would celebrate the holiday with turkey and other traditional goodies of the season. These, the teacher thought, would be the subjects of most of her student’s art. And they were.
But Douglas made a different kind of picture. Douglas was a different kind of boy. He was the teacher’s true child of misery, frail and unhappy. As other children played at recess, Douglas was likely to stand close by her side. One could only guess at the pain Douglas felt behind those sad eyes.
Yes, his picture was different. When asked to draw a picture of something for which he was thankful, he drew a hand. Nothing else. Just an empty hand.
His abstract image captured the imagination of his peers. Whose hand could it be? One child guessed it was the hand of a farmer, because farmers raise turkeys. Another suggested a police officer, because the police protect and care for people. Still others guessed it was the hand of God, for God feeds us. And so, the discussion went — until the teacher almost forgot the young artist himself.
When the children had gone on to other assignments, she paused at Douglas’ desk, bent down, and asked him whose hand it was.
The little boy looked away and muttered, It’s yours, teacher.
She recalled the times she had taken his hand and walked with him here or there, as she had the other students. How often had she said, “Take my hand, Douglas, we’ll go outside”. Or, “Let me show you how to hold your pencil”. Or, “Let’s do this together”. Douglas was most thankful for his teacher’s hand.
Brushing aside a tear, she went on with her work.
This story speaks of more than thankfulness. It says something about teachers teaching and parents parenting and friends showing friendship, and how much it means to the Douglas’s of the world. They might not always say thanks. But they’ll remember the hand that reaches out.
A man and his wife are pulled over by a police officer. The officer walks up to the man's window and says "Sir you were going 60 in a 45."
The man says "I was only going 55!"
His wife hits him in the arm and says "No, you were going 65." He gives her a very dirty look.
The officer continues "I'm also going to have to give you a ticket for a broken taillight."
The man says "Broken taillight? I had no idea."
His wife hits him in the arm again and says "What? I've been telling you to get it fixed for weeks."
The man yells "Will you be quiet?"
The officer looks at his wife and asks "Mam, does he always talk to you that way?"
The mans wife shrugs and says "Only when he drinks."
